International Sherry Week 2015

Last year’s International Sherry Week is reborn this year. International Sherry Week 2015 will take place from 2 to 8 of November 2015, coinciding with European Wine Tourism Day on 8 November.

International Sherry Week is an international fiesta celebrating this unique southern Spanish wine – thousands of restaurants, wine bars, hotels and merchants across the world will hold events such as special pairing menus, as well as tastings and other Sherry-themed events, spreading the word about how perfectly this wine matches such a wide variety of dishes, from cheese and olives, to meat, fish, seafood, game, and desserts.

Previous worldwide events organised by sherry aficionados over the past two years have proved hugely successful, with more than 2000 events in 22 countries, and an estimated 100,000 people taking part (see our Sherry Twitter Tasting for instance). Social media has played a key role in communicating the message to participating bars, restaurants and wine retailers around the world, from the UK to Singapore to the America´s, with a total Twitter reach of more than two million. This astounding success confirms Sherry’s resurgence in popularity thanks to an improved understanding of how to drink it.

This year’s Sherry Week will be held under the auspices of the official governing body of Sherry wines, the Consejo Regulador Jerez-Xérès-Sherry and Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Event registrations will open in July.
